Adding to this list, a DOG and an ELEPHANT.
Meet Bella (the small one) and Tarra (the big one):
When Tarra was admitted to the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennesee, she didn’t do what other elephants do – find a friend of her own species.
Tarra, instead, befriended a stray dog and became best friends with her.
Bella and Tarra played and ate together, and often had sleepovers in a barn.
One day, Bella was (most likely) attacked by coyotes, leaving her unable to walk.
Tarra found Bella in a ditch, bleeding and unable to move.
So Tarra carried her bloody body back to the house.
Tarra, instead of roaming 2000+ acres of the sanctuary, waited 3 WEEKS for Bella to heal. Talk about unwaivering loyalty and devotion.
When Bella was carried out to see Tarra, Bella was ECSTATIC.
Bella trusted Tarra so completely she would let the great elephant stroke her stomach with her foot and caress her with her trunk.
Unfortunately, since that incident, Bella has died.
Unlike me losing my dog and finding him after 2 days … Bella will not see her dog.
